As a subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation, we’re part of a proud legacy of innovation and excellence. SIE is a dynamic technology company, delivering cutting-edge hardware and network services to more than 100 million people and an entertainment leader, home to some of the most beloved and recognizable intellectual properties (IP) in the world. Our role at SIE is to create and nurture the experiences under the PlayStation brand, a name synonymous with entertainment excellence and creativity.

Tableau Developer, People Analytics (6-Month Contract)

  • Remote (Preference for CST)
  • About the Team

At PlayStation, we're not just building the Best Place to Play — we're also building the Best Place to Work.

The People Analytics team within Sony Interactive Entertainment's (SIE) People & Places organization partners with leaders across the business to transform people data into meaningful insights and smarter decisions. We're a small but mighty team passionate about making data more accessible, actionable, and engaging for the people who use it.

We're currently on a mission to level up our entire portfolio of People Analytics dashboards — reimagining how we visualize workforce and workplace data, expanding access to insights, and empowering more leaders to make informed decisions through intuitive, self-service analytics.

We're looking for an experienced Tableau Developer to join us on a 6-month contract and help bring this vision to life.

About the Role

As a Tableau Developer on the People Analytics team, you'll play a critical role in modernizing our dashboard portfolio, combining exceptional data visualization skills with the technical expertise needed to make people data more accessible without compromising security.

You'll focus on two key priorities:

  • Dashboard Modernization: Transform existing Tableau dashboards into visually compelling, intuitive, and high-impact analytical products. Improve aesthetics, functionality, usability, and content to help our stakeholders find the insights they need and understand what actions to take.
  • Expanded Access & Row-Level Security: Design and implement scalable row-level security solutions within Tableau, enabling us to safely expand dashboard access to new audiences while ensuring users see only the employee data they're authorized to access.

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves building exceptional data products, enjoys solving technical challenges, and takes pride in creating solutions that people genuinely want to use.

  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Dashboard Design & Development
  • Lead the redesign, development, and enhancement of existing Tableau dashboards, incorporating modern data visualization best practices, intuitive navigation, and engaging user experiences.
  • Partner with People Analytics team members and stakeholders to understand business questions, identify opportunities for improvement, and translate requirements into effective dashboard solutions.
  • Optimize dashboard performance, usability, and maintainability, ensuring solutions are scalable and deliver a seamless user experience.
  • Incorporate user feedback into iterative improvements, balancing visual appeal, analytical accuracy, and practical business needs.
  • Build dashboards that empower stakeholders to independently explore data, answer business questions, and make informed decisions.

Row-Level Security & Data Access

  • Design, implement, test, and maintain robust row-level security (RLS) solutions within Tableau to support expanded access to sensitive employee data.
  • Develop scalable security models that dynamically restrict data visibility based on user identity, organizational hierarchy, role, or other defined access permissions.
  • Collaborate with People Analytics and relevant technology/security partners to ensure security implementations align with organizational data governance and privacy requirements.
  • Validate security configurations through comprehensive testing, including different user roles, access scenarios, and organizational changes.
  • Document security architecture, configuration, and maintenance procedures to enable reliable ongoing administration by the People Analytics team.

Data Integration & Technical Excellence

  • Develop and optimize Tableau data sources, connections, and underlying data models, primarily leveraging Snowflake.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, transform, and prepare data for dashboard development.
  • Troubleshoot data quality, performance, and integration issues across dashboards and underlying data sources.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and standardize dashboard development and maintenance processes.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure knowledge transfer, thorough documentation, and sustainable solutions beyond the contract period.
  • What We're Looking For
  • Required Qualifications
  • Significant hands-on experience developing, deploying, and maintaining complex Tableau dashboards in a professional environment.
  • Advanced Tableau expertise , including dashboard design, calculated fields, parameters, filters, actions, data modeling, performance optimization, and visualization best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and maintaining row-level security in Tableau , including user-based access controls, entitlement/security mapping, and dynamic data filtering.
  • Strong understanding of Tableau's security architecture and how permissions, data sources, and row-level security interact.
  • Proficiency working with relational databases and querying data using SQL or comparable technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges independently.
  • Experience translating business requirements into intuitive, high-quality analytical products.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly when working with sensitive or confidential information.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to independently manage priorities, deliver high-quality work within defined timelines, and document solutions for long-term sustainability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Snowflake , including querying, data modeling, and optimizing Tableau connections to Snowflake datasets.
  • Experience with Alteryx or similar ETL/data preparation tools for automating data transformation and integration workflows.
  • Experience working with HRIS or People Analytics data, particularly employee records, organizational hierarchies, and workforce metrics.
  • Familiarity with enterprise Tableau environments, including Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud administration, permissions, and governance.
  • Experience implementing dynamic row-level security based on organizational hierarchies or complex business rules.
  • Experience modernizing existing dashboard portfolios, including establishing reusable design patterns and development standards.
  • Familiarity with Workday or other enterprise HR systems.

Who You Are

  • Design-minded: You believe a great dashboard should be as intuitive and engaging as it is analytically rigorous.
  • Technically curious: You enjoy untangling complex data and security challenges and finding elegant, scalable solutions.
  • Impact-driven: You care about more than delivering a dashboard — you want to know whether people use it and whether it helps them make better decisions.
  • Collaborative: You're an approachable partner who welcomes feedback, shares knowledge, and helps others succeed.
  • Detail-oriented: You understand that accuracy, privacy, and security are non-negotiable when working with people data.
  • Pragmatic and adaptable: You balance innovation with practical execution, recognizing that delivering sustainable improvements matters more than chasing perfection.

The Impact You'll Make

By the end of this 6-month engagement, you'll have helped transform how leaders across PlayStation access and interact with workforce insights.

Your work will contribute to a modernized, more intuitive dashboard portfolio, a scalable foundation for secure access to people data, and a more self-sufficient People Analytics team equipped to maintain and expand these capabilities into the future.

Most importantly, you'll help us turn people data into better decisions — and better experiences for the people who make PlayStation extraordinary.
